Proposed legislation put forward on Monday seeks to ban public officials from making trades on prediction markets if they have "insider details" related to a market.

The Prediction Market Landscape

Event-driven betting sites have grown significantly in the past few years, with traders able to bet on everything from elections to politics.

The industry encountered regulatory challenges under the last presidential term. Yet it has experienced less resistance during the current presidency.

A company executive for Kalshi said their site "has clear rules against such activities of any form."
