19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his initial title for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a former number one, has had a difficult period, managing just one win at the big events and suffering a setback at the American major.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally separating with former mentor Cervara.

Presently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

This represents the player's first trophy since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court since that period of 2023.

The win also means Medvedev has won 21 victories at twenty-one various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my children at once, so to secure a championship is really nice," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, including in that event earlier this year.

The player's defensive play style and recurring outbursts on court had prompted commentators to question if his capacity to play at the top level was over.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and compete aggressively, supported by an enhanced service.

The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the final five points to go ahead.

The competitors swapped break points in the second set before the challenger, striving for his initial professional championship, gained dominance to push for a final set.

Moutet saved four early chances in a tight third set before the Russian secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner secured the win with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
